The phone fell into the water. What to do?

Water and telephone are not compatible. Water entering the smartphone is fraught with problems that, in the worst case scenario, can lead to serious damage. After bathing, the mobile phone either does not turn on at all, or starts to junk: the screen flickers, the speaker wheezes, the keys stick. However, all this can be avoided if you immediately give the phone an ambulance. So what to do if the phone falls into the water.

  1. The first thing to do after dropping the device into water or any other liquid is to get it out of an aggressive environment for electronics as soon as possible and turn it off. In a few seconds, the device will not have time to get wet through, but in 20 seconds, water will penetrate all nodes. Smartphones on Android turn off by long pressing the power key, iPhone (iPad) - by long pressing the power key and the "home" button.
  2. Remove the battery from the phone. This should be done quickly, even if the phone does not turn off. You just need to remove the back cover and remove the battery (if it is removable). Leave the phone unassembled. If the device does not understand, as is the case with the iPhone, then just turn it off. This will reduce the likelihood of a short circuit. Remove the SIM card and memory card from the smartphone. Cards from moisture can just go bad, for example, become covered with oxide deposits and stop working.
  3. Remove everything that can be removed from the device: covers, covers, plugs, in order to open the inside of the phone for ventilation as much as possible. Keep these parts dry. Do not move the unit unnecessarily, do not press the buttons. Water due to these actions can spread throughout the phone.
  4. Do not immediately try to turn on the phone and check its performance. Just do harm: when electricity passes through the microcircuits, it is easier for water to disable them.
  6. If you can’t contact the service center very soon, put the phone in the food rice, after wrapping it in a dry cloth. Rice is a kind of emergency resuscitation, it absorbs the remnants of moisture remaining inside the device. Rice can be replaced with silica gel - a substance that absorbs water stronger than rice. Silica gel bags are found, for example, in boxes with new shoes. In this position, leave the unit for a day.
  7. The main step in saving the phone after getting moisture in it is to contact the service center and it is better not to hesitate. The faster this is done, the cheaper it will cost to repair, and perhaps only prevention of phone elements will be enough. Even if all the liquid dries inside, the salts still remain dissolved in the water, which corrode the radio elements when the phone is working, since the salts are conductors of electric current.
